Joining the Community in a Shared Vision

One highlight of the conference is to hold a session which enables everyone to participate in creating a common vision and share ideas about how we might get there.

This year the session was a partnership between Maureen Brine, who was just stepping down as Board Chair, and the Peace Project. We adopted the Appreciative Inquiry process, which has a great track record at helping organizations identify their strengths and building on them.

“Loved it” said one participant, adding that they like “addressing things with A.I. rather than moan and groan.” That’s a reference for the tendency for some processes to focus too much on sharing what’s wrong, rather than finding out what to do right.

But many said “Not enough time”. Even so, there was enough time to produce a huge amount of comments and suggestions which has been keeping Maurine busy for the past several months, so that the Board can review your input when they meet face-to-face in March. We will be sending out a summary than, too!
